A lifetime of design

With 30 years of experience Glenda works closely with clients to achieve a design that is in harmony with their personality and lifestyle taking full consideration of budget, energy efficiency, the environment and permaculture garden principles into the overall design.

Designing houses is something that Glenda has done her whole life. She had a childhood passion for modern design and pursuing this childhood passion, Glenda completed her certificate in design and drafting at RMIT in 1967.

Glenda never did just drafting. She always engaged in design, working closely with architects until the mid-1970s. Then, for a period, she focused on organic gardening and art. She designed her garden to provide all the food for her family and through this period she developed her keen sense of garden design.

In 1994 she established her own home design business in Colac. She worked on a large range of farm and town houses, gaining a great deal of experience with alternative design and medium, such as mud brick, alternative timber design, as well as more traditional design. But always with an eye to passive solar design and integration with the landscape. In 1996 Glenda completed her architectural degree with honors at Deacon University. Specializing in sustainable design, her thesis was on self-sufficient and autonomous design for holiday cabins in Deans Marsh. The project encapsulated solar, etc. Since then Glenda has consolidated her work in design prioritizing sustainability, balance with the environment, and very importantly, designing to suit family dynamics.

She has a focus on Sustainable design and is active in Coastal Conservation and Societies: Torquay Coast Action, Friends of Point Addis, SurfCoast Inland Plains Landcare Network and Surf Coast Arts among others.
